The neurodiversity model of understanding ourselves and our brains offers a way make sense of the struggles and strengths that are a fundamental part of who we are as people, rather than viewing them as symptoms to treat or problems to solve. My practice embraces the neurodiversity framework, and I am comfortable working with neurodiverse individuals, including Autistic and ADHD people.
While embracing the traits of neurodiverse individuals allows us to see and value the complexity of their diagnosis and the ways that it gives rise to their unique strengths and abilities, it also allows for the recognition of the unique challenges and stressors they may experience throughout their life. Therapy can make a dramatic difference in how you understand and manage those symptoms, stressors, and challenges, and in how you are able to function in your life.
If you have more questions about if therapy might be helpful for you, or if you suspect that you have some form of neurodiversity and want to talk about that with a professional, contact me! I am happy to answer your questions and I would love to schedule and appointment with you soon!
